The Vets Rugby Association « Les Potes Au Feu » gathers former rugby players as well as neophytes who are keen to play rugby. Our main goal is to enjoy practicing and continue playing rugby in a non-competitive atmosphere. Our games always end with the traditional and mandatory “3rd half-time” (it would make no sense otherwise !).
To fully live these fun moments, we train and play the games on friday evenings. The Club is located in the village of St-Savin near Bourgoin-Jallieu in between Lyon and Grenoble, a traditional and famous “rugby land” in France. Jean-Pierre Rives once said “ Rugby is the only sport where players meet, in all the others, they just cross each others.” Thus to make sure we meet, two main events are organised:
– the traditional “Pot au feu” on the 11th of November, a festive lunch preceded by a mini-tournament.
– the famous “International Tournament” in spring (april-may). For the 2017 tournament, we will welcome 13 teams, including the « NOVOCASTRIAN RFC » (ENGLAND), « HENLEY VULTURES » (ENGLAND), « PORTADOWN RFC » (ULSTER) and « LES KROMANYON » (SWITZERLAND), .
The all-day tournament enjoys a truly friendly spirit with both good rugby and fresh beer to keep us in form. Food is provided to the teams and we make sure that you fully enjoy your rugby day.
The Rugby tournament will be followed by a entertaining evening, a dancing diner and a concert by the band Mascara (www.orchestremascara.net). Last year more than 600 people attended the diner and we expect a similar attendance this year
